Dear Primary Stakeholders

Suspension of Micro Surface Dressing Programme 2022- Further information

As recently advised, we have needed to suspend our micro-asphalt highway surfacing programme for this year.

As this is a weather dependent activity and we do not anticipate that the remainder of the micro-asphalt programme will be completed within 2022.

We will continue to inspect these roads and make safe defects requiring intervention.

Some of these roads may deteriorate over the winter and micro-asphalt may therefore not be the most suitable surfacing to use in 2023. We will need to reassess the roads and determine what the most appropriate surfacing option will be.

It is necessary to suspend the programme as tragically, an employee of our micro-asphalt contractor was sadly killed in an accident involving a lorry. This accident remains under investigation and I do not feel that it is appropriate to restart the programme while this is the case.

Yours faithfully,

Jack Wiltshire
