Neighbourhood Planning update and call for Sites

Since our Feedback Event of the 2015 Survey Results at the Mud Pie Café in January, the work of the Neighbourhood Plan Core Team has moved to become much more technical  planning oriented. We have:

  • Appointed consultants to carry out a Housing Needs Assessment for the Parish.
  • Developed criteria for assessing potential building sites, based on National Planning Policies and the North Dorset Local Plan.
  • Held workshops to apply the criteria to the 10 potential building sites that had been advised to North Dorset District Council by 2012.
  • Arranged meetings with developers and landowners to feedback the results of the workshops.
  • Written a number of sections of the Neighbourhood Plan, in early draft form.

We now must make sure that there are no further sites over and above those on the NDDC Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (2012), that landowners would want to offer for development by way of a Call For Sites.

Any landowner wishing to offer a parcel of land for development should email the Parish Council via the Parish Clerk (Sandra Deary – telephone no: 01258 484370) at okefordfitzpaine@dorset-aptc.gov.uk. The email should include the following information:

  • Site name
  • Site address
  • Site plan (showing ‘red line’ boundary around the site)
  • Ownership
  • Site area in hectares
  • Expected number of units and usage (residential/employment/mixed)
  • Timescale for development i.e. available now or at some time in the future
  • Any barriers to delivery e.g. legal issues, land contamination etc.

And also contact details of the landowner submitting the site for consideration. The email should arrive by no later than Tuesday 31st May 2016.

Defibrillator Now Installed – Well done Village Community Group !

defibWe are pleased to announce that there is now a Defibrillator installed in the village for Emergency use in the event of a cardiac arrest. The unit is installed within a coded entry cabinet at the entrance to the Museum adjacent to the Telephone Kiosk by the village shop. In the event of a cardiac arrest (adult or child) the first step is to call 999. They will confirm the 4-digit code to be entered followed by “OK” to gain access to the defibrillator.

It is advised that additional help is summonsed in order that the unit can be sent for and also that CPR can be administered immediately to the patient.

CPR training is being offered to anyone above 10 years of age (for details contact Mike Wood 01258 860146 mike@nutmegcottage.net).

The defibrillator cabinet includes the defibrillator, instructions for use and a kit of essential items. The system is very simple to use and on switching on full and clear instructions are given. When the pads are attached the equipment will analyse the casualty’s heart rhythm and assess whether a shock is necessary. Follow the procedures detailed by the voice prompts accordingly.

Okeford Fitzpaine Neighbourhood Plan-UPDATE Dec 2015

The Parish- wide Neighbourhood Plan Survey conducted in October got a whopping 85% response.  A big thanks to all of you who took the time to complete it.  A special thanks goes to our Neighbourhood Champions who delivered the surveys, returning several times to collect as many as possible. If you still have yours do return it to George Weeks at Sheephayes  on Castle Lane near the pub, as the response can still be included.

The Project Team is now analysing the Survey results and the information will be used to draft Okeford Fitzpaine’s Neighbourhood Plan for comment and endorsement by all parishioners later next year.  In the meantime, you are invited to see and discuss the Survey Results with members of the Project Team at the
